While celebrating his personal engagement, a police officer from Western Australia met his untimely end.
Liam Trimmer, a senior constable, had met with friends and family to announce his impending marriage to his fiancée, a nurse.
He suffered a fall during the celebrations, injured his neck, and later passed away.
“Everything was attempted to save him, but it was not meant to be, and I am aware that everyone affected is in excruciating pain.
“I believe they simply want to awaken from this nightmare,” Commissioner Col Blanch remarked.
After relocating to Australia from the UK ten years ago, the 29-year-old completed his education at Joondalup Police Academy in 2013.
In 2017, Trimmer relocated to Kalgoorlie, where he joined the local rugby team and became involved in the community.
He became a member of the tactical reaction group and the Gang Crime Squad.
“This extraordinary officer loved helping the community, was a fine example of WA policing and it’s such a tragedy,” Blanch stated.
“A very, very confident, capable young man with his whole life ahead of him, and that’s how sad this is.”
The senior constable was likewise honored by the police union.
“Every time a death occurs for a police officer, it doesn’t matter how it really does rock the core of the Blue family,” Paul Gale stated.
While police compile a report for the coroner, the welfare division will assist people affected by the tragedy.
