In Melbourne, one woman was fatally stabbed, and then another was shot by police.
Around 6.30 p.m. today, there were complaints of a woman being severely abused by another woman, prompting police to be called to an address on Kett Street.
According to police, a lady who was carrying a knife “challenged” officers, who then fired a shot.
That woman, whose identity is still pending, passed away right there on the spot.
There, the woman who had been stabbed also passed away.
It was assumed that the two women knew one another, and police stated that they were not searching for anyone else in connection with the tragedy.
Whenever a police firearm is discharged, procedure dictates that homicide detectives work under the supervision of the Professional Standards Command to conduct their investigation.
