Investigators looking into homicides are looking into the death of a two-month-old child at a rural Victoria property.
About nine o’clock last night, neighbors in Alfredton, Ballarat, reported hearing a fight between the man’s mother and father. This prompted police to be called to the scene.
Baby Chance Ford was found unresponsive in the living room by family friend Angela Walker, who started CPR until emergency personnel could get to the scene.
“The mum was just screaming, something had happened and just crying and yelling,” she said.
“Me and the neighbour tried to help him but unfortunately we were not able to resuscitate him.”
Just one hour prior to the event, the family was spotted having fun in the backyard.
He’s such a charming young man. It’s really depressing, Walker said.
The boy’s mother desperately ran door to door last night, pleading for help, according to the boy’s neighbors, who said they had resided in the neighborhood for a year and had generally kept to themselves.
They seemed content, and nothing seemed amiss in their eyes. “Hello, I would even say that,” resident Karan Singh remarked.
The entire day, detectives searched the area for any signs of foul play.
Tomorrow, an autopsy will be performed to ascertain the cause of the infant’s death.
There have been no takedowns.
