At a medical facility on the South Coast of New South Wales, a guy pulled a gun and was shot dead by police.
At around 1:00 pm, there were allegations of a patient pulling a gun, prompting police to be called to a medical facility on Nowra’s Junction Street.
Assistant Commissioner Peter Cotter stated that the 34-year-old male, a frequent visitor to the medical center, became “extremely agitated” and mentioned “alarming things” when he was speaking with a doctor.
“During that conversation, unprovoked, he produced a firearm,” said Cotter.
Following the police’s quick arrival and following the medical staff’s call, talks lasted for about two hours.
Inside the medical center, four individuals managed to flee with the armed man.
However, following hours of discussions, the man emerged from the medical facility and pointed a revolver at the responding officers.
According to Cotter, the man continued to brandish the gun and “raise it in the air and at police” after the cops lowered the ballistic shield they were holding.
“Police fired several shots,” according to Cotter.
“He was hit multiple times.”
Paramedics treated the victim, but he passed away at the site.
According to Cotter, the Homicide Squad will look into the incident’s circumstances, the man’s past, and the police’s conduct.
“He does not have a significant criminal history, he was known to police through medical episodes and more recently through psychological medical episodes,” he stated.
Additionally, a major event investigation is in progress and will be examined by an impartial party.
