The latest in a worrying month’s worth of drowning tragedies, a man has perished in a river on the South Coast of New South Wales.
Following complaints that a man was having difficulty staying afloat in “rough water” at 2:00 pm yesterday, the 53-year-old man was removed from Nethercote Falls at the Yowaka River near Eden.
Despite the arrival of paramedics and police, he was unable to be resuscitate.
Since the beginning of December, there have been more than 40 drowning deaths in the state.
