While searching Penrith Beach in Sydney for a missing 35-year-old man, a corpse has been found.
About 2.35 p.m. today, emergency personnel were rushed to the artificial beach at Castlereagh, where frantic family members were there as the search was initiated.
Instead of finding the St. Marys guy, as planned, police discovered the dismal truth at approximately 6:15 p.m., using PolAir from the air and police divers in the sea.
Although the body has not yet been officially recognized, it is thought to be that of the swimmer who went missing.
The 35-year-old St. Marys resident was last spotted falling into the sea as he was reportedly paddle boarding with kids.
The dad was still missing, according to witnesses, even though the kids were taken to safety.
A comprehensive emergency response was launched, with the police, firefighters, ambulance, and two helicopters searching the area for any indication of the individual.
Green dye was used to track the current while police divers and rescue boats entered the water.
“Officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command have commenced a search to locate the man, with police divers to assist,” the NSW Police stated.
As a result, the popular Boxing Day beach was blocked and families were asked to leave so that emergency personnel could find the man.
One beachgoer remarked, “We were thinking it was family friendly.”
“I think there were lifeguards so I’m not sure what went wrong,” someone another stated.
Although 9News has been informed that the man was beyond the officially declared swim zone, Royal Surf Lifesavers were out on patrol today.
Only a few kilometers from Penrith’s central business district, the man-made beach was opened to the public.
Residents in Western Sydney, who had to pay multiple road tolls to enjoy the refreshing coastal waters on a hot day, welcomed it as a much-needed break.
