Before Melbourne police came, an accused burglar was subdued by a teenager who held him down.
When a woman’s alarm went off at 4.40 a.m., she discovered a man in her bedroom within her Preston flat on High Street.
Her son, 19, heard her scream and rushed into her bedroom.
After he subdued the man, age 31, he pulled him to the front of the apartment building and detained him there until the police could arrive.
Following his arrest, the 31-year-old Thornbury resident was charged with a number of offenses, including five charges of handling stolen items, aggravated burglary, theft, theft from a motor vehicle, and careless handling of the proceeds of crime. Today, he is scheduled to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
