A 23-year-old man who was taken to the hospital in a bizarre accident after he fell into a hole on the beach has passed away.
Josh Taylor’s family confirmed in a heartfelt statement that he is no longer on life support, referring to him as the “best son, brother, boyfriend, and mate we could all have wished for”.
Taylor “fought as hard as he could and is the most courageous person we will ever know,” according to the family, which also included his parents Peter and Belinda. They added that Taylor would be missed “every minute of every day.”
On Saturday afternoon, an accident occurred on Bribie Island, which is located north of Brisbane.
Taylor tumbled into a 1.5-meter-deep pit that was previously used for pig roasting.
With the assistance of rangers, family and friends fought to try to get him out while performing CPR until emergency personnel could arrive.
In severe condition, he was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.
In today’s statement, the family said, “Unfortunately, the injuries he received were too severe for him to overcome.”
The hospital staff is among those the family praises for their assistance.
“Their expertise and compassion made the hardest five days of our life just a little more easier,” they stated.
“We will somehow find a way to move on from this terrible tragedy.”
