Following a series of reported violent offenses over a three-week period in Queensland, two men have been charged with attempted murder and numerous other offenses.
Allegations state that on October 18, two men, ages 18 and 19, broke into a residence in Rockville, near Toowoomba, and got into a fight with another guy inside.
Before the 18- and 19-year-olds departed the scene, the 68-year-old man allegedly suffered major injuries after being struck with a tomahawk, according to police reports.
On November 6, however, a 19-year-old man allegedly threatened and struck a guy sitting in his car on Goombungee Road in Harlaxton with the blunt end of a knife after opening the car. According to police, the man drove off with only minor wounds.
A supposedly stolen Hyundai Veloster pulled up next to a man and woman who were changing the tire on another parked car on Goombungee Road in Harlaxton a few minutes later.
According to the police, two guys exited the vehicle and allegedly threatened the two with knives, axes, and meat cleavers while demanding that they give up the car’s keys. The couple apparently resisted.
The two accused criminals then drove off in the vehicle they had come in the previous day, November 5, which was purportedly taken from a house on Toowoomba’s Grenier Street. Later, the car was discovered abandoned on Griffith Street, which is close by.
Not long later, police made an arrest at a Harlaxton home of an 18-year-old guy. A 46-year-old guy who lived in the house was allegedly attacked with a piece of wood by a 19-year-old male who was robbing it of goods at around 12:30 p.m. in Toowoomba City.
After the perpetrator ran away, authorities conducted more investigation and found the 19-year-old guy at a Wilsonton house. Later in the afternoon, police discovered the 19-year-old guy at a Wilsonton residence.
An 18-year-old guy has been charged with three felonies: entering a house with intent, trying to enter a premises and perform an indictable offense, and attempted murder.
Nine charges have been brought against a 19-year-old male, including attempted murder, attempted robbery with a weapon in the presence of witnesses, trying to break into a building and perform an indictable crime, and obtaining contaminated property. It is anticipated that both men will appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.
