Six teenagers, among them a 12-year-old, were taken to the hospital on Friday following an unruly home party in Brisbane’s south.
The birthday celebration for a 17-year-old took place in Chambers Flat at approximately 11 p.m. on Friday, and about 400 people showed up.
When several partygoers started passing out, paramedics and police were dispatched to the scene right away.
When things started to go south at the party, one guest—who desired to remain anonymous—told, they left right away.
The intended event was a birthday celebration. About 400 people showed there when just 90 were expected to attend, they claimed.
According to Jane James of the Queensland Ambulance Service, paramedics had to withdraw and wait for police.
She described the scene as frantic.
“A fight actual broke out in front and (paramedics) had to retreat and wait for police to arrive.”
Police arrived on the scene swiftly and managed the crowd to allow ambulances to enter.
Six patients, one of whom had reportedly been assaulted, were brought to the hospital. “It’s very concerning for a 12-year-old to be at such a large house party and potentially consumed alcohol and maybe drugs as well,” James stated.
A 19-year-old male received an infringement notice for trespassing and public annoyance from the police.
