Today, authorities in Central Queensland renewed their hunt for a man who fled into a river while being pursued by them.
The 36-year-old is still unaccounted for after he reportedly ran away from police after a raid at a Rockhampton residence yesterday at around 6 o’clock in the evening (AEST).
After a brief foot pursuit down Victoria Parade and East Street, he leaped into the Fitzroy River, which is recognized as crocodile habitat.
“It will be alleged the man entered the Fitzroy River while attempting to evade police,” according to police.
He was not found late yesterday, despite a police boat and aircraft search.
Today is the start of the search and rescue efforts.
According to descriptions, the man from Kawana is Caucasian, standing at a height of roughly 187 cm, with a slim build, brown hair, and blue eyes.
When last seen, he was dressed in dark grey shorts and a grey shirt.
