In the Southern Downs area of Queensland, a small aircraft crash claimed the life of the pilot.
After the aircraft caught fire on contact just after lunchtime, Palgrave crash scene is being searched by police.
The first person on the site was a local property owner who reported that a plane was on fire to emergency personnel.
At that point, the grass around the crash site began to catch fire.
Before fire fighters could arrive and take control, the owner started installing fire breaks and attempted to put out the fire himself.
According to a Queensland Police spokesperson, “the pilot of the plane did not survive the crash and it is believed no one else was on board at the time of the initial investigation.”
“Investigators will work with officials from Recreational Aviation Australia (RAAUS) to determine the cause of the crash.”
