Police have detailed horrifying scenes inside a Perth home where a “severely injured” woman died in a suspected domestic abuse case.
Around 5 p.m. yesterday, emergency services were called to a residence in Bedford’s north-eastern suburbs, where a woman was discovered inside with fatal injuries.
Police detained a guy in his 30s at the residence, where he was known to have lived “off and on” for some years, according to Inspector Geoff Desanges.
Desanges stated that the woman was slain in an act of “extreme violence” and that paramedics and police officers were offered counselling as a result of what they witnessed.
“When they arrived, they discovered a severely injured and unresponsive woman,” he added, adding that paramedics were unable to resuscitate her and she died at the site.
“(Her) injuries were horrific,” Desanges said, adding that cops “don’t believe a weapon was used.”
Desanges described the man’s relationship with the deceased woman as “complex.”
The woman was a mother, although she has yet to be identified properly by authorities.
According to police, a male dialled triple zero from his home.
Desanges said that officers had been to the house before last night, but he did not say why.
The individual is being held by police, and the inquiry is ongoing.
