In a “targeted” attack in broad daylight, a Sydney defense attorney was shot outside a residence in the city’s southwest.
According to the NSW Police, shots were reportedly fired on Wednesday just before 10.30am on Narelle Crescent in Greenacre.
When they arrived, they discovered Mahmoud Abbas, 30, had been shot.
The man was believed to have been outside the house when he was approached and shot, according to authorities.
Paramedics attended to Abbas at the site before transporting him to the hospital in a critical but stable condition.
Adam Johnson, the detective superintendent, said Abbas will soon have surgery for his wounds.
It was a targeted attack, according to police.
Johnson declared, “This was obviously a targeted and blatant shooting.”
According to Johnson, police will look into possible connections to other recent shootings that have occurred throughout the city.
“I don’t understand the motivation or logic behind it. It’s too soon to make assumptions, he continued.
As police look into the daytime crime, a crime scene has been established.
Mahmoud “Brownie” Ahmad, a member of the underworld, was shot and killed on the same street in April of last year.
