After being dragged from the water at Bondi Beach in Sydney, a man passed away from what appears to have been a heart attack.
Just before 10am, a bystander dragged the 82-year-old man to the shore and started performing CPR; this caught the attention of Surf Life Saving NSW State Operations Centre (SOC).
Up until the arrival of the paramedics, lifeguards continued CPR.
The victim was brought to St. Vincent’s Hospital, where doctors subsequently pronounced him dead.
Following the deaths of IT entrepreneur Andrew Findlay and art dealer Tim Klingender in a boat mishap in Watsons Bay, his death marks the third coastal drowning this month.
In the time between July 1, 2022, and June 30, 2023, Surf Life Saving NSW reported a total of 54 coastal drownings.
