Following a Saturday morning fire at a historic hotel in West Australia, emergency services are cleaning up the scene.
According to a WA Police spokeswoman, reports of the fire at the Williams Hotel, located 170 kilometers southeast of Perth, began to surface about 5 am.
At 7.30 am, according to a representative for the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, firefighters had the fire under control and it had only spread to the hotel’s back portion.
The cause of the fire or the cost of the damages is still unknown.
The Williams Hotel on Albany Highway was first built in 1912, however it was originally built around 1850.
A fire was attended by fire trucks.
One of the first established settlements in WA is the town of Williams, which has a population of slightly more than one thousand.
