A resident of South Australia passed away from invasive meningococcal.
The person is the first to pass away from the illness in the state this year, according to SA Health.
At least ten individuals who the patient interacted with have been identified by the health authorities and are being advised to seek medical attention.
Invasive meningococcal cases have increased in the state this year, from eight at this time last year to 16 so far.
This includes a recent incident with a 15-year-old Adelaide girl.
The adolescent has been admitted to the hospital and is doing well.
