Federal police have charged a man and a 14-year-old boy after the kid was caught on camera using a baggage carousel to enter a prohibited area at Canberra Airport.
When the two attempted to board their flight back to Queensland yesterday, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) halted them.
On July 2, Canberra Airport Group reported to police that a youngster had reportedly entered a secure area by using the baggage carousel.
Two males can be seen in what looks to be CCTV footage from the airport recording the youngster as he boards the carousel and rides away from view.
When stopping the 58-year-old guy and the adolescent yesterday, police allegedly found a phone with the incident’s video on it.
The AFP has stated that it has zero tolerance for rude behavior at airports, according to Detective Acting Inspector Jon Horrocks.
He declared that limits were in place because “airport security is no joke” and was intended to protect both personnel and passengers.
People who violate airport security are subject to prosecution if they do so, according to the Canberra Airport Group, the AFP, and business partners.
The man and teenager were accused of breaking regulation 3.16B of the Aviation Transport Security Regulations 2005 by entering a security restricted area at a designated airport through access control points.
In October, the guy is scheduled to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court.
