After a significant fire in Geelong early this morning completely destroyed her home, a woman has been located.
Around two in the morning, a fire started at the Upper Skene Street location of Newtown.
David, a neighbour, called the fire “roaring” and used a lawn hose to douse some of it.
“The heat was intense and was coming from the windows. He described it as roaring and rising straight up.
“I descended with the hose and began to spray it. It smashed glass and melted the paint on my house.
Crews worked to put out the fire that severely damaged the house.
The woman was discovered inside dead; her identity has not yet been released.
Detectives from the Arson and Explosives Squad and an arson chemist have arrived at the premises, and police have established a crime scene.
