Previously employed as a DJ at high school formal after-parties all across Adelaide, the man has been charged with 17 fresh child sex offenses, some of which are said to have been committed while the man was on parole.
Nicholas Emmanuel Athans was found guilty in June 2021 and given a 20-month prison term for sending pornographic pictures to four girls between the ages of 14 and 16.
At the time of the offense, Athans was the proprietor of the company Yeah Hard Entertainment, which planned events including high school formal after-parties.
In addition, he performed as a DJ at several well-known Adelaide nightclubs.
According to court records, Athans has been charged with a number of brand-new offenses, including maintaining an illicit sexual relationship with a child and engaging in sex with someone under the age of 17. Other offenses include communicating with a child to make them amenable to sex, false imprisonment, rape, indecent assault, and attempted rape.
While some of the crimes are said to have been committed after his release from prison in December of last year, others are said to have occurred before the offense for which he will receive a sentence in 2021.
Amy Fisher, the prosecutor, requested on Tuesday that the case be postponed until September before the Adelaide Magistrates Court.
“I am grateful that it took some time… She stated that Mr. Athans had previously been detained in connection with a number of offenses that were allegedly perpetrated against multiple other complainants.
It will submit an application to consolidate all issues.
The attorney for Athans informed the court that his client planned to contest the accusations.
Judge Sophie David stated that she did not have “any real confidence” in Athans’ chances of rehabilitation when she sentenced him in June 2021 because he continued to commit crimes after being detained and accused for the first time in 2017 and “in flagrant breach of [his] bail agreement.”
The photographs provided to the adolescent females were described as “graphic” and “causing distress and disgust,” and she described his behavior as constant over a 15-month period.
Despite the fact that his mental health had deteriorated since the accusations, the court heard that he had refused to accept responsibility and had not expressed regret.
