A Service NSW employee has been charged after it was claimed that she gave the gang that abducted Peter Vuong from his Smithfield home last month an address using her work computer.
Vuong, 26, was allegedly torn from his bed by six guys armed with sledgehammers on March 9 in front of his influencer girlfriend Angel Bowyer. They then pulled him downstairs, tossed him over a fence, and stuffed him into the trunk of a black Audi.
According to reports, his captors held him prisoner in a Belmore home for six days while removing his teeth with a hammer and pliers and demanding drugs and cash from a wealthy friend.
During a covert operation, detectives from the robbery and severe crime team apprehended the trio and released Vuong from the home on Canterbury Road.
Six men, aged 19, 20, and 21, were charged with crimes related to the incident.
Sira Elkheir, 21, is accused of using her position as a Service NSW employee to seek for an address for crypto trader Tran Dinh, one of Vuong’s close friends, after their detention. Sira Elkheir is being investigated by police, who allege she committed a crime.
Elkheir allegedly sought up a Smithfield address connected to Dinh and gave the information to the suspected kidnappers.
However, despite frequently visiting the Brenan Street location that the Service NSW database revealed, Dinh did not reside there.
Police say the gang later requested a ransom from Dinh using the encrypted app Threema, while they are still looking into whether the Vuong was the intended target.
It is said that the kidnappers wrote, “Going to make dis clear no1 negotiating we set price 5mil or work if you can’t meet up 2 our requirements we cut ur boy up bit by bit until you give us what we want (sic)”
Police claim that “work” is a code word for drugs.
Additionally, it’s claimed that the group sent a video showing Vuong saying, “Tran help me,” while holding a gun in his mouth. They intend to kill me.
Elkheir was apprehended at a Bunnings store in Greenacre and was charged with take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm, unauthorised function with aim severe offence, access/modify restricted data contained in computer and contribute to criminal group.
She was turned down for bail and has a court date tomorrow in Burwood.
