Five sharks were spotted in Western Australian waters in a single day, prompting a warning to swimmers to proceed with caution.
The Surf Life Saving Westpac helicopter and villagers discovered five sharks swimming close to popular beaches on Thursday, one of which was a great white.
Just before 3 p.m. on Thursday, the great white was seen 200 meters offshore from Swanbourne Beach, a well-known nudist beach in Perth.
Forty minutes later, a second three-meter great white was seen swimming between Garden Island and Rockingham.
In the meantime, a member of the public reported seeing three tiger sharks close to Port Denison.
The reports of sightings came one day after a joint statement from SharkSmart and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development encouraging anglers to consider public safety when fishing during the April salmon migration.
