After a small plane crashed south of Brisbane, the pilot was unharmed and was able to flee the scene.
Around 6 am, according to Queensland Ambulance, a light plane crashed on Lollard Street in Hillcrest, a suburb of Brisbane.
Despite homes being only a few meters away and having little room for error, the pilot was compelled to make an emergency landing on a makeshift runway.
With only a few scrapes and bruises, the 30-year-old woman was able to escape the collision.
The AirMed passenger transport aircraft was flying with freight from Sydney’s Bankstown Airport to Brisbane’s Archerfield Airport.
When it crashed, it was only 15 kilometers away from its target.
There were no patients on board.
Before emergency personnel came, residents of adjoining homes were the first people on the scene.
James Van Den Bogert, operations manager for Queensland Ambulance Service, reported that the pilot had sustained minor wounds.
He remarked, “On the whole really, really well for what we see behind us. Just some bruising to her lower limbs and a couple of lacerations to her face.”
The pilot was taken to the hospital for evaluation before being released earlier this afternoon.
The cause of the collision is the subject of an ongoing investigation.
According to AirMed, the firm is aiding the police.
