A Queensland bus is said to have been stabbed, and a 13-year-old child has been charged.
Before six o’clock yesterday, police claimed a man broke up a fight between two adolescents and a bus driver while the vehicle was stopped on Lake Street in Cairns City.
The 26-year-old then allegedly sat down on the bus before being stabbed in the stomach by one of the teens who had just approached him.
The youths ran away from the scene, but the Cairns dog squad followed them to an address in Parramatta Park, where they were apprehended shortly after, according to police.
The 26-year-old was treated for a minor laceration at Cairns Hospital before being sent go.
The charges against a 13-year-old Bentley Park kid include one count each of common assault and injury.
He was denied bail and now has an appearance date in Cairns Children’s Court.
