Just after 7 p.m. local time on Friday, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake that was 10 kilometers deep struck the continental shelf between Australia and Western New Guinea (8.30pm AEDT).
293 people in the capital of the Northern Territory reported feeling the tremor in the hours that followed, according to GA.
There were no reports of damage or a tsunami warning following the oceanic earthquake.
