Police identify the body discovered inside a Gold Coast residence

Tomislav Nemes, 69, was the man whose poorly decomposed body was discovered inside a Gold Coast residence earlier this year. Homicide investigators are currently looking into his “suspicious” death.

When a family member refused to allow anyone see Nemes because he was “too unwell,” a relative became concerned and called the police, who then checked on Nemes’ welfare at the Benowa residence.

Inside the house where Nemes’ wife and stepson were residing, police discovered the body in a bed.

There were no attempts made to preserve the body, according to acting detective inspector Mark Procter of the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch. “The body was in an advanced state of decomposition; it did have a mummified look to it,” he added.

Police at the time thought Nemes may have been deceased for more than a year before his body was discovered.

His death is the subject of an ongoing inquiry, and no one has been charged.

In an effort to gather information, police have now released pictures of Nemes and his house on Edinburgh Road.

Police are asking anyone who has been to the house recently to come forward.

Nemes’ Queensland-based friends, family, and colleagues, as well as those from the Australian Capital Territory where he lived before 2018, are urged to come forward.
