After a 15-year-old girl suffered serious injuries in a car crash involving an allegedly stolen vehicle, four juveniles have appeared in court.
Near the intersection of Wonga Road and Delaneys Road in Warranwood, Melbourne, at approximately 8.45am on Friday, CCTV footage caught the exact moment the automobile crashed with a family’s Lexus SUV.
A family is killed when a stolen Toyota Camry swerves into the shoulder and smashes into another vehicle.
A girl, aged fifteen, was left behind when four juvenile males ran away from the site of the collision, according to the police.
Just before 9am yesterday morning, the crash occurred outside of Thomas McLachlan’s home on Wonga Road in Warranwood.
“I just heard a lot of screeching and then a loud bang,” McLachlan added.
“Not very good” describes the teen’s reported behavior.
Truthfully, it was pretty shameful, he admitted. Instantly, McLachlan and his father sprang into action to lend a hand.
“He was first aid trained, and he made sure she’s alright, keeping her still till the ambos came,” according to him.
The young girl who was in the car underwent emergency surgery after being sent to the Royal Children’s hospital in a critical condition.
It has been reported that the family traveling in the Lexus was en route to the tulip festival.
They escaped the collision unharmed.
Their children’s safety was a major concern, according to McLachlan.
Police apprehended four juveniles in the area. A 17-year-old teenager is facing nine charges in connection with the incident.
A juvenile, who is sixteen years old, has been detained and then granted bail.
Pending further inquiry, two boys, both 13 years old, have been freed. Detectives said the stolen Camry was taken from a property in Flora Hill, near Bendigo, on Wednesday.
Inside the vehicle, they recovered what seems to be a machete.
Reportedly, crashes frequently occur along the bend on Wonga Road where the accident occurred.
There needs to be more signage warning drivers to slow down, according to the locals.
The girl, who is fifteen years old, is in a critical but stable condition in the hospital.
