Only last week, Mark News can disclose, did a guy accused of stabbing a lady outside a Sydney gym manage to avoid jail time by violating an AVO against the same victim twice.
Anthony Monteleone turned himself in at the Dee Why police station at 7:50 a.m. today following the 12.30 p.m. stabbing of a 39-year-old lady at the parking lot of Crunch Fitness in Alexandria yesterday.
As Mark News understands it, Monteleone violated an apprehended violence order against the 39-year-old lady twice, leading to his sentencing to an 18-month intensive correctional term at Manly Court just nine days ago.
A new two-year AVO prohibiting him from seeing or communicating with the woman was put into effect at the time of his sentencing last week.
This afternoon, the man was charged with violating prohibition or restriction in AVO and causing/wounding serious bodily harm to a person with intent to murder (DV).
In the parking lot on O’Riordan Street yesterday, the woman was allegedly stabbed in the head, upper torso, and ear.
He is thought to have used a large kitchen knife to carry out the claimed attack.
After receiving care, the woman was brought to the hospital in a stable state.
After the man arrived at the Dee Why police station this morning, he was taken into custody.
Detective Superintendent Rodney Hart described the incident as a “targeted attack,” and investigators stated that they thought the woman and her alleged attacker knew one another.
Speaking to the media, Hart stated, “We’ve identified that we believe the offender in this matter is known to the victim.”
He further claimed that it was an incident connected to domestic abuse, since the woman was thought to have dated the man briefly.
“It’s horrendous what has happened to this poor victim,” Hart stated.
Witnesses claimed that after assisting the bleeding woman upstairs inside the gym, personnel started first aid while dispatching emergency personnel.
The man will appear in Manly Local Court tomorrow after being denied bail.
