At a beach close to Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, two people who were retrieved from the water are critically ill and one guy has died.
The three males got into problems around 1:15 p.m. while swimming at Marengo, which is close to Apollo Bay.
One by one, a woman brought them to safety while other beachgoers began CPR, according to Victoria Police.
But there was no saving him.
In a critical state, the other two men were evacuated to a hospital.
According to Victoria Police, a report for the coroner is being prepared.
