Two would-be kidnappers tried to take a teenager from a well-known Melbourne laneway, leaving her scared.
The 14-year-old, who wishes to remain anonymous, was approached by a man on Hosier Lane last month while she was on a school excursion.
“He started to talk about how I was very pretty, and then he grabbed my arm and tried to pull me closer to him,” she continued.
The man and the woman who accompanied him following the attempted kidnapping on November 15 at approximately 10.30 am are being sought by the police.
Before a kind stranger intervened and pretended to be a teacher, allowing the schoolgirl to escape, the man is said to have attempted to drag her with him.
The girl was not physically injured during the incident.
The man, who was with a woman, left the scene on foot towards Flinders Lane.
The girl said she had been taking photos with her friends in the laneway when they were approached by the ma, who may have been substance-affected.
The quick-thinking stranger had posed as a school teacher and intervened, and the Year 9 student was able to break free.
“I was very relieved, I just burst into tears,” she said.
”All I could think about was how hard he was holding onto me.”
Police describe the man as having dark-coloured skin and a slim build.
He was wearing black sunglasses, dark-coloured long pants, a dark-coloured hoodie with a red hood, black shoes with white soles, and was carrying a black backpack and black bum bag.
The woman is perceived to be Asian in appearance, with a solid build and long black hair.
She was wearing a purple puffer jacket, beige/light pink t-shirt, blue jeans, white and fluoro orange shoes and a blue backpack.
The incident did not result in any physical harm to the girl.
The male and a woman walked off the area in the direction of Flinders Lane.
The kid claimed that the mother, who might have been under the influence of drugs, approached her and her pals as they were shooting pictures in the laneway.
The ingenious stranger had pretended to be a teacher and made an intervention, allowing the ninth-grader to escape.
“I was very relieved, I just burst into tears,” she stated.
“All I could think about was how hard he was holding onto me.”
The man is described by the police as having lean build and black skin.
He had on a dark-colored hoodie with a crimson hood, black shoes with heels, and black sunglasses.
