Shortly after takeoff, a light plane crashed close to Canberra, and numerous emergency services were present at the scene.
According to a NSW Police spokesman, the tiny single-engine aircraft is believed to have crashed and set fire about 3 p.m. on a property in Hadlow Street, Gundaroo, in the NSW Southern Tablelands.
Ambulance, police, and firefighters are on the site.
Shortly after 2:30 p.m., the five-seater Cirrus SR22 departed Canberra Airport.
The plane went north after tracking south near Queanbeyan.
After six minutes, the aircraft abruptly dropped close to Lake George, and air traffic control was unable to get in contact with the pilot.
