Premier Chris Minns has issued a warning to prepare for a horrific fire season in response to yesterday’s blaze on the NSW South Coast, which resulted in the loss of three homes and the hospitalization of one person.
Three residences were destroyed by the fire near Bermagui in the Bega Valley, an area that was severely damaged by the 2019–20 Black Summer bushfires, according to confirmation provided by NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner Rob Rogers this afternoon.
“It could have been much worse,” Rogers remarked, emphasizing that “the fire season is absolutely here and we need to take this seriously” throughout the entirety of New South Wales.
According to Rogers, a person injured by a falling tree branch is in the hospital. It is not thought that their wounds are life-threatening.
Minns repeated Rogers’ caution over the fire season this summer.
He warned, “Get ready for a horror summer.” “As we enter the first week of October, the weather is still like midsummer.
High winds and several days above thirty degrees Celsius are ideal conditions for bushfires, which can be disastrous for nearby towns.”
The fire quickly expanded to 15 kilometers, according to the premier, who stated that 800 firefighters and other emergency services battled through the night to contain it.
According to Minns, “800 firefighters and emergency service personnel battled this bushfire through the night to save regional communities on the South Coast.”

“This demonstrates their dedication to this community, and the state owes them a great deal.”
In addition to commending the town for its readiness for the fire, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that the federal government would provide “whatever resources are required” to put out summertime fires.
“This fire moved very quickly because of the grass, wind, and heat conditions we had,” he stated.
“I observed people who are organized, people who are definitely on top of the tasks that they have, and people who are determined to make a difference for this local community inside some of the areas it moved through that burned in 2019 and 2020.”
59 fires were raging around the state at 5 p.m. today; 26 of them had not yet been extinguished but all were at the advise level.
Firefighters were able to contain the raging fire in the Berkeley Valley early in the morning after it spread across the fireground in a southerly direction during the night.
Video from Kearsley in the Hunter region revealed the bush was still erupting in flames.
Overnight, firefighters in Cessnock put out a second fire, sparing a row of nearby homes in the process.
