A day after party leader John Pesutto launched a motion to dismiss a contentious MP, Victoria’s Liberal Party gathered for a stormy party room meeting.
Pesutto’s motion, which has been officially issued this morning, seeks to oust Moira Deeming from the parliamentary party room for arranging, promoting and attending an anti-trans rights demonstration fronted by an activist “known to be publicly affiliated with far-right extremist groups”.
Deeming spoke on Saturday during the Let Women Speak gathering outside the Victorian legislature in Melbourne’s central business district, which was organized by British anti-transgender campaigner Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull.
Neo-Nazis joined a group of anti-transgender protesters and repeatedly gave the Nazi salute.
The organisation that organized the demonstration has broken ties with the neo-Nazis.
The motion further states that Deeming’s expulsion is being sought as a result of her post-rally meeting and publication of a film with activist Angie Jones, former NSW Liberal candidate Katherine Deeves, and Keen-Minshull.
“On that day, Angie Jones tweeted phrases that any unbiased observer would associate with Nazis, such as the phrase “Nazis and women want to get rid of paedo filth,” at 4:41 p.m. What say you?”” The motion is partially stated.
On Monday at 10 a.m., a vote will be held to determine Deeming’s destiny.
Deeming arrived at parliament in the rear seat of another MP’s car, but when 9News approached her, she was silent.
The Western Metropolitan Region MP, however, promised to resist the “unjust” attempt to have her removed.

Yet, a small number of the Liberal leadership team have unfairly condemned me.
